Natural Harmonies

"This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And babe, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soul mate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about."
--Marilyn Monroe

I came across this quote today and I drowned.  Personally, I love finding big inspirational quotes like this one.  They give me mega chills.

We’re all fighting, aren’t we?  Fighting to find ourselves.  Fighting to find who and what will make us smile.

There’s a blogger that I really, really love, and you can read her blog here.  In one of her recent posts, she wrote about inner peace.  And really, what’s inner peace to you?  Clear mind?  Perfect life?  All is well, right?  Maybe not.  The way she sees it, and I must say that I agree, is that bad things are going to happen.  Life’s not fair, and things are thrown at us every single day that we don’t expect..  So, maybe inner peace isn’t reaching perfection and living the life that everyone wants.  That isn’t possible.  Maybe, inner peace is simply finding peace with yourself no matter what situation you’re in.

Maybe.

I Think The Sky Smiled At Me

The other day, I was headed home from a stressful day with tons of homework in hand.  Anxious thoughts were going through my mind as they always seem to be, and that’s when I caught a glimpse of something beautiful.

The sun was setting over the highway, and one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen.  It was crisp and golden, with clouds scattered across the sky.  They were pink and amber and orange, all at the same time.  The colors complimented each other so well.  It was almost like some kind of dreamscape painted just to ease my mind on such an evening.

I ended up visiting every beach and park I could get to before it was dark.  It was such a wonderful evening.  I was freezing, and enjoying every moment of it.  It was worth it for the beauty my eyes got to see, even if I couldn’t feel my fingers.

It’s almost humorous, in a marvelous and beautiful way.  That something like the sun, something that is always there and provides the earth with light and warmth, can create such a peace of mind.

Johnny Appleseed

Ah, yes.  March 11, Johnny Appleseed Day.  Not only did John Chapman, or Johnny Appleseed, introduce Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana to one of America’s favorite fruit, the apple.  He is also known for his kindness, generosity, the love he showed towards the planet, and his great optimism.

I think that the reason he was so optimistic, is because of his attitude and love towards others.  He was selfless and that’s what brightened his day.  He dressed in the worst clothing possible, always bartering and giving away his better clothes.  In the summers, he went completely barefoot to save leather.

He showed much concern for people, and animals as well.  He even cared for insects.  If a horse were to be put down, he would buy the horse and everything he needed to take care of it.  If mosquitos were flying into his fire, he would put out the fire, and was also a vegetarian.

What if more of us tried to be like him?  What if we were selfless?

The Little Mermaid

You remember this movie, don’t you?  The main character, Ariel is looking for something more than what she’s living.  She falls in love with what’s above the sea, and not just what, but who.  She resorts to Ursula, the sea witch who is only looking out for herself.

This was my favorite Disney movie as a child, and more than likely, you saw it in your younger days as well.  As a child, this movie blew my mind and now, it melts my heart.  Cute, is probably the best way to describe it.  Adorable.

My past weekend was spent with some junk food, people I love, and a few Disney classics.  I would definitely recommend it to those of you in need of some relaxation or maybe just a good time.

Let me tell you, it made my whole week.

Introduction

Hi there everybody, welcome to my blog!

I’m trying something new here.  This isn’t about my life or my interests, this is about you.  Whoever you are, wherever you are, you are important and you deserve to be happy.  And hey, maybe you already are.  Then again, maybe you aren’t.  Whether you are the happiest person alive, or you’re sadder than you’ve ever been, my goal is to give you something to smile about, and possibly brighten up my day in the process.

Cheesy?  Maybe a little, but I hope that you try and understand my thinking and really try and get in on this.

For now, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week!  Mine sure went by fast.
